Triumphant return for Shay

The only trouble with being retired is that you never get a day off, but who would really want one when you can spend the time golfing in idyllic settings such as Beech Park on days like Monday last. In near perfect conditions, Shay Smith, a former Hon.Secretary of the PRTV, who had given over 30 years sterling service to the Society before relinquishing the post because of work commitments, returned following his recent retirement and showed that he had lost none of his enthusiasm or ability by shooting a great score of 38pts to win the overall prize. Another man marking his return to action was Vice Captain Tom Olin and it was great to see him out and about again after his short break.
We play Beech Park around this time every year and each visit sees the course in even better condition that before, with the greens especially tricky for all but the bravest of putters. Club member Brian Kelly deserves our gratitude for taking us here, as do the Bar and Catering staff for looking after us so well. Roll on August 2012.
