Revised Handicapping Rules 2024 |
Following Committee discussion and subsequent
review, it was agreed to continue the existing handicapping procedures
for 2024.
Members will play off a Society Handicap as
decided by the Committee.
A member's Golf Ireland (G.I.) Index will be
used as the base to determine his/her Society H/Cap as per Table 1
below. (Subject to a maximum of 36)
Once determined, there will be no increases to a Society H/Cap, but
instead, a bonus shot will be added to the member's H/Cap following
3 consecutive outings where they have not won a prize.
A decrease will apply to a Society H/Cap when a member's
G.I. Index decreases, and members should inform the H/Cap Secretary
if this occurs.
Following the review of 2023 results, members
whose playing h/cap at yearend was 5 or more shots below their starting
h/cap, will have their 2024 starting h/cap reduced by 1 shot.
However, members who played at least 3 outings during 2023 but did
not feature amongs the prizewinners, will have their starting h/cap
increased by 1 shot.
There will be no other decrease to a Society H/Cap.
Exception: Prizewinners will have redeductions applied to h/caps for
subsequent outings.
(See Table 2 below)
Members in recovery following serious illness will have their
H/Caps increased by 2 shots
until they are no longer required.
