Countback decides Captain's Prize When the weather is fine, there is no better place to play golf than at Hermitage, a course familiar to most members of the PRTV Golf Society thru the annual outing for the PGA Tankard. However, a much greater prize was on offer this year as our Captain, Pat O'Donovan, celebrated his Captain's Day at his home Club. The large turnout was testimony to the esteem in which he is held, and with the course as well presented and tricky as usual, it was not too surprising to find that just one player managed to return a score better than par. Three members tied for Pat's Captain's Prize, with local man John Keane taking the honours on a countback from Charlie Doran and Gerry Hayes, all 3 having returned 34pts. The best score of the day however was brought in by singing legend and good friend of the Captain, Ray Lynam, a super 38pts off 8 h/cap. Having played well out on the course, Ray played even better in the Clubhouse when providing the post prandial entertainment, where he was ably assisted by Des Long and Dave Green. We sincerely thank Ray for spending the day with us and look forward to seeing him at further outings in the future. We are also grateful to Hermitage for their hospitality and to Captain Pat for organising such a great day out. Next
