Michael Collins - No.1 at The Island Links golf can be characterised by uneven fairways, penal rough, deep strategically placed pot bunkers and wind. Success at such a venue usually depends on an ability to adapt your game to changing conditions, to think your way thru the dunes playing low accurate shots, and to show no fear when faced with character building putts on treacherous greens. The Island is rightly regarded as one of this country's foremost links courses, so it is perhaps fitting that the one of the Society's foremost players and very own 'big fella' should take top honours here, displaying all of the aforementioned skills to edge out his nearest rivals by two stableford points. Our association with this long established Club exists almost as long as the Society itself, with many Island members in our ranks, and we thank everyone involved for the opportunity to visit once again to enjoy the challenges out on the golf course and the wonderful hospitality afterwards in the clubhouse.
