Two in a row for Paddy

Paddy Kane made light of the wet and windy conditions at The South County on Monday 8th August to win yet another PGA Tankard and qualify to represent the PRTV Golf Society in this year's Master Tankard later in the year. This was the second year running for the genial Bray man to take this award and it was fitting that he should win another tilt at the Master Tankard as last year's event was cut short when torrential rain flooded the greens at Carlow, causing the competition to be abandoned with Paddy well positioned.
It looked like 'deja vu' during this outing when the heavens opened with everyone out on the course, but thankfully the downpour only lasted about 15 minutes and the South County drainage proved its worth thus allowing play to continue. A glance at the scores will give some idea of the difficulties encountered in trying to overcome wind, rain and a stubborn course determined to keep its 'Championship' reputation intact, so we clearly need another day before winning that argument. It was also wonderful to see Les Tynan up and about again following his recent illness and we hope it will not be long before he is chasing the small white ball with us once more.
The PRTV Golf Society is very grateful to The South County for their hospitality and kindness and we look forward to another day, dry and preferably in Summer, when we can prove, particularly to ourselves, that we do actually have golfers in our ranks.
