Pat
Courtney wins Ian's President's prize
Having swept all before him during an illustrious
footballing career, the former Shamrock Rovers great has now turned
his attention to the 'small ball' game and played everyone off the
park to win Ian Corr's President's Prize in fine style with a super
score of 40pts at County Meath Golf Club just outside Trim.
In dry but blustery conditions, Pat had 2 pts to spare over his nearest
rival Paul McCarthy, who supports Shelbourne incidentally, so that
was an added bonus. The President himself followed 'Drums' as a boy,
and made no secret of the fact that having to present his prize to
a 'Rovers' man put a blot on what was turning out to be a really wonderful
day indeed. Ian was in great form as usual, and his Presidential address
did not disappoint or spare too many. He even announced that he is
starting a campaign to oust the President (himself) from office at
the next AGM. Classic !.
The course was in good order as usual, although the strong cross wind
and some 'interesting' pin placements ensured that not too many managed
to break par.
We are very grateful to the good people at Co. Meath G.C. for having
the PRTV Society back again this year, we salute the catering folks
for the superb meal and look forward to returning next year for the
next installment.
