Memorable Day for the Maguires

On Monday 6th September, Leona Maguire put the first point on the scoreboard to set Team Europe on course for Solheim Cup victory in far away Toledo. A little closer to home at Forrest Little Golf Club, aided by a solid outward 9 holes, her namesake Ray laid the foundation for his victory at this year's Press Radio and TV Society Captain's Day. Playing in the 2nd group, his super score of 38pts withstood all challenges and relegated Michael Farrell (36pts) and Jerry Hayes (35pts) to the minor placings. However, the best score of the day was returned by Deirdre Healy, who took top honours in the Visitors section with a magnificent 39pts.
On a day befitting the occasion, the sun beamed down continuously, prompting liberal application of Factor 50, and displaying the sparkling North Dublin jewel that is Forrest Little in all its splendour.
Captain Anne Marie left no stone unturned in her efforts to ensure an enjoyable occasion for everyone present. From the 'goody bag' table ably managed by Denise and Niall, to the splendid array of prizes and the tasty food served as each group finished, she succeeded with flying colours.
This Society's association with Forrest Little Golf Club stretches back thru the decades, but the welcome is as warm today as on our first visit, and we extend sincere thanks to the Club for having us back year after year. We especially thank the hard working bar and catering staff, who looked after us so well, and also BKD Architects for their generous sponsorship of the day.
Because of covid restrictions, our annual Charity Day was unfortunately deferred, but the inclusion of the Captain's Day proved a worthy substitute, and we look forward with confidence to the return of our regular schedule in 2022.
