Good Omens for 2026
On Monday 2nd March, the hills of Howth played host once more to the first outing of the year as the Press Radio and TV Society commenced it's programme for 2026. If Monday's playing conditions are an omen for the rest of the season's outings, everyone will be pleased. The gentle breeze and occasional sunshine made for a very pleasant 9 holes of golf, and when the scores were announced, Tom Fleming emerged from the pack victorious.
At the AGM which followed, the aforementioned Mr. Fleming was installed as Captain for 2026, with Jim McNelis announced as his his Vice Captain, in addition to his role as Hon.Handicap Secretary. Paul McCarthy will continue his trojan work as Hon. Secretary and with Anne Marie Kerney stepping down from her role as Hon. Treasurer, Pat Malone takes on this very responsible position. Completing the composition of the new Committee are Suzanne McNelis, Aidan Butler, Brian Moran, Myles Cronan and John Foley.
Outgoing Captain Enda McDermott is now Ex Officio, and in his end of year address, thanked everyone for making 2025 such a successful one with a special mention to Anne Marie for her astute management of the Society's finances. The members present then observed a few moments in silent reflection in honour of our dear departed former President Ian Corr.
As in previous years, the Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were circulated and passed, and it was agreed that the annual subscription would remain unchanged for 2026.
Jim McNelis informed the meeting that the 2025 handicapping system will continue as is for 2026.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting then closed.
