Emphatic win for Ronan at Royal Dublin
At the end of season Christmas Outing at Royal Dublin on Monday 8th December, local member Ronan Collins strolled to a 4 point victory to lift the Brendan McKenna Trophy with 28pts for the 12 holes played. Nearest challengers were Niall Mathews and Anne Marie Kerney who both finished with 24pts.

The real story of the day however has to be the exploits of Aidan Butler. Contesting the Matchplay final against Society Captain and local member Enda McDermott, and 10 points adrift of the leader in the Golfer of the Year competition, Aidan not only took the Matchplay title and the bonus 10 GOY points on offer, but also secured a single point in the Christmas competition which was just sufficient to propel him to the top of the GOY table ahead of Myles Cronan and make him the Golfer of the Year for 2025.
Following a delicious seasonal meal, and brief speeches from Captain Enda and The Royal Dublin Captain, prizes were distributed to the winners.
Aonghus, Eddie and Ronan were once again on hand to provide another enjoyable interlude of music, songs and stories, with additional contributions by Paul, Suzanne, and President Dave Green's daughter Aisling. Another very enjoyable night indeed.

Wishing all our Members and Friends a Very Happy Christmas
and a Prosperous and Peaceful 2026.
