John is the King of the Mountains

'King of the Mountain' is the title bestowed on the best climbing cyclist in a road race.
On Monday 8th August, John Foley was the No.1 climbing golfer at the Press Radio and TV Society Captain's Day at Howth. As most struggled to come to terms with the undulations on the Hill of Howth, John showed how it should be done by returning a superbly crafted score of 38pts to win Michael Dunphy's Captain's Prize and narrowly relegate the 37pts of Anne Marie Kerney to the runner up spot. Charlie Doran and Tom Fleming tied for 3rd a further 4 pts adrift, with the former taking the prize on a countback.
As the day warmed up, a welcome breeze kept us cool, while also adding to the already difficult task of keeping the ball on the sundrenched fairways. Still, you could always console yourself as you searched by keeping one eye on so many spectacular views.
We are grateful to Howth Golf Club for the hospitality shown to us, not just now but everytime we visit, and we thank the hardworking bar and catering staff for the wonderful meal provided.
Well done to Captain Michael for a great day.
