Diamond Jubilee Captain's Prize for Niall

The Press Radio and TV Golf Society celebrates 60 years in existence this year, and as part of that celebration, Captain John Foley held his Captain's Day on Monday 29th July at Stackstown, his home Club.
Following a brief shower at the very beginning, the day blossomed into one just about perfect for golf, while showing the course in its best condition. Players of every ability will be seriously challenged here, and apart from a few notable exceptions, most of us were found wanting. While the best scores on the day belonged in the 'Visitor' category, Niall Mathews showed that good scoring was not entirely the preserve of the guests. His 37pts saw him take the Captain's Prize by the slenderest of margins, with Enda McDermott a point adrift on 36pts in 2nd and Tom Fleming 3rd on 34pts.
Following the golf, the traditional Captain's dinner was much appreciated, and our thanks go to Ronnie and the catering team for such a delicious meal.
In his post prandial address, Captain John welcomed everyone including his golfing visitors and special guests President Ian, Paddy Higgins and Dave Green, and outlined a brief history of the Society since its formation, before presenting the prizes to the winners.
Our thanks go to the greenkeepers for presenting the course in excellent playing condition and to everyone at Stackstown for making the day so enjoyable.
