Eddie captures the Stanley Bergin Trophy

The 2012 'Stanley Bergin' outing was played in the sunshine at Delgany Golf Club on Monday 28th May, and although the weather was benign, the course played as tough as ever. For the annual visitor, Delgany's greens are always problematic, but when combined with some 'fairways to heaven' it was no surprise that this year's winning score was returned by Eddie Hearns from Slade Valley, a course with similar characteristics. Familiarity itself will never be enough to triumph at a PRTV outing but Eddie complimented his with some solid ball striking and brave putting, a combination sufficient to finally put his name on the trophy, after many years of trying, by virtue of a better inward half.
Jerry Hayes was the unlucky runner-up but did have the consolation of winning Class 1 with his 34pts. John Keane (32pts) and Brian Kelly (33pts) took the other Class awards. The new clubhouse at Delgany is an ideal location in which to relax and recharge the batteries, and our thanks go to the bar and catering staff for looking after us so well.
