Local knowledge secures PGA Tankard for Pat
A swing of beauty is a joy forever.
Had Keats been with us today he surely would have adapted his famous opening line in praise of Pat O'Donovan, whose classy swing was the foundation stone of the 40 stableford points which gave him the 2014 PGA Tankard on his home course. Having 3-putted from close range on the 16th, Pat showed McIlroyesque determination by finishing birdie-par to deny Pat Courtney the honour of representing the PRTV Society at the Master Tankard Golf Day by a single point.
The course was in fantastic condition and a pure joy to play and we take our hats off to the greenkeeping staff for presenting it in such magnificent order. The myriad of mature trees provided both dramatic backdrop and opportunity for frustration in equal measure, while Wordsworth or Monet may have come to the minds
of some on beholding the kaleidoscope of colour approaching the tee on the treacherous 11th.
Hermitage is a delight and we are lucky to have it as a regular fixture on our calendar. We thank the Club for their hospitality and for their efforts in organising medical assistance for Tommy Olin, who felt unwell following his round and was hospitalised as a precaution. The good news is that Tommy was released after observation and we look forward to seeing him out and about at Beech Park next month.
