New Member Deirdre wins Tom McGrane Trophy
Since its inception in 2019, the Tom McGrane Memorial outing of the Press radio and TV Society at Hermitage has been played in bright sunshine, and this year was no exception. Tom was a long time advocate of the 'Child of Prague', and on Monday 18th July, the sun gods did not let us down.
The scoring more than matched the hot weather, and while Met Eireann recorded the 2nd highest air temperature ever in nearby Phoenix Park, new member Deirdre Healy was busy setting records of her own, recording a magnificent 45pts to claim victory. Her winning margin was a mere 6pts clear of nearest challenger Enda McDermott, with a posse of players in hot pursuit 2pts further back.
Captain Michael spoke for us all in his fitting tribute to Tom, one of life's gentlemen, and still sorely missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
We are very grateful to the good people of Hermitage for their
continuing hospitality, to the hardworking bar and catering staff for looking after us so well and to our own Pat O'Donovan for organising yet another truly memorable day.

Don't forget our Away outing to Mullingar on Tuesday 30th Aug.
