2022 Season Up and Running
On Monday 28th February, a new dawn broke for the Press Radio and TV Golf Society, when the first balls were struck to herald the start of our 2022 Golfing Season.
Despite the misty conditions, over 20 hopefuls played the 9-hole competition, with Tom Fleming taking the honours with a solid 20pts,and chased all the way by Breda Murtagh and Ray Maguire, both of whom finished on 18pts.
Following the golf, the Annnual General Meeting was held in the Clubhouse, during which esteemed Howth member Michael Dunphy was installed as Captain for the coming year, and his first duty was to nominate Denis Foley as his Vice Captain to popular acclaim.
Paul McCarthy, John Foley and Michael Farrell will continue as Hon. Secretary, Treasurer and Handicap Secretary respectively for another year. The Committee includes Myles Cronan, Paddy Higgins, Brian Kelly, Ray Maguire and Brian Moran. Anne Marie Kerney as Ex Officio completes the line-up.
A motion, proposed by Anne Marie and seconded by Michael Farrell,
- 'That PRTV Members will use their current Handicap Index to determine their Playing Handicap for each Outing, using the WHS Course Handicap Table for each Golf Course. Society adjustments will be applied to the player's Handicap Index using the existing formula'. - was passed unanimously.
Under 'Any Other Business', it was agreed that the Matchplay Competition will run again this year. Brian Moran will provide details in the coming weeks.
