Tom Olin's Captain's Day at Killeen Society members turned out in force on Monday
3rd Sept. to help popular Captain Tom Olin celebrate his big day on
his home course at Killeen. They were ably assisted by Club Captain
Noel Fannin, a number of Tom's close friends, and in particular his
family, who generously sponsored some of the prizes, in addition to
the much appreciated on-course barbeque. Killeen is a good test of
golfing ability, and a look at the scoring will show that we all failed
miserably. Thankfully there is much more to an enjoyable golf day
than just golf - relaxing over good food in the company of good friends
while being entertained by the eloquence of our esteemed President
and by the Club Captain Noel, both heaping well merited praise on
our Captain Tom. Then throw in some amusing anecdotes from Tom's pal
Frank Nutley - what could be better ? For a number of members, collecting
a prize, whether it was a 'picky out', nines, or class, did make it
better, while the 3 overall awards were claimed by habitual winner
Pat Courtney in 3rd spot, regular starter-in-chief Eddie Hearns in
2nd place, and 'major' specialist Mick Daly best of the lot.
