Peter 'springs' to fore at Lisheen

When 'The South County' sadly closed in May, this outing appeared to be at risk, but with the creation of the Lisheen Springs Golf Club at the Brittas location, our fixture list could remain intact. Since May, the course has been remarkably well maintained, and proved a stern test for one and all. Although nobody broke par off their society handicap, rookie Peter Kennedy made light of being cut 2 shots since the start of the year and returned a very respectable 36pts to take first prize, while Ronan Collins showed he is recovering well from injury by shooting 35pts to win Class 2.
The weather gods certainly smiled down on us as we were spared the adverse conditions circling the course, and apart from a brief passing shower, short sleeves and sun visors were the order of the day for most. We are indebted to the owners of Lisheen Springs, John and Pat Kavanagh, for their hospitality and we wish them every success with this venture. Many thanks also to the catering staff for looking after us so well. This is our 9th year to play this venue and we look forward to coming back again in 2013.
