Maiden
victory for new boy Martin
There must be something
in the south Dublin air which brings out the very best in our debut
year members. Following in the footsteps of last year's winner Peter
Kennedy, Martin Clancy also registered his first win with the PRTV
Society at Lisheen Springs when he edged out Brian Moran on a countback
after both players returned scores of 37pts in breezy and showery
conditions. The
course was presented in great condition and lived up to its championship
reputation. The backdrop of Kippure and surrounding hills, vibrant
with summer colour, perfectly complimented the rolling parkland and
the picturesque scenery brought to mind Ben Hogan's reminder to make
sure to smell the roses as you walk the fairways of life as you only
get to play one round, but fortunately we get to stroll the Lisheen
fairways again next year.
We are once more indebted to the Kavanagh family and thank them for
their hospitality and a special thanks to Alan and his crew for keeping
us well fed and watered before and after the golf.
