Last Ray of Summer shines at Lisheen
With some of the 'form' players still nursing injuries to their h/caps in the wake of the Captain's Prize, the outing to Lisheen Springs on Monday 31st provided an opportunity
for the rest of us to take advantage and so it proved. As the meteoroligical summer drew to a close, Ray Maguire's golf game came into full bloom as his 37pts was enough to relegate John Foley on 36pts and a host of others on 35pts to the minor placings. This was Ray's first overall win with the Society and is indeed well merited. Playing conditions were unusually benign for this area, while any approaching dark clouds had the good sense to withold their moisture until everyone was safely back in the clubhouse, adding to the day's enjoyment. The recently poll forked greens which are recovering well and should soon be back to perfection, added an extra dimension to putting but overall the course was in great playing condition and a credit to the greenkeepers. Many thanks to the Kavanagh family for looking after us once again and to Shane and the catering staff for making sure we didn't go hungry after the golf.
