Des gets his name on the Stanley Bergin Trophy
With the curtailment of the Society calendar due to Covid lockdown,this year's venue for the playing of the Stanley Bergin Trophy was Lisheen Springs, where new man Des Moffat from neighbouring Slade Valley added his name to an illustrious list of previous winners with a well crafted 36pts. He was pushed all the way to the 18th by Tom Fleming who finished just 2 points adrift.
On an almost perfect golfing day, it was a joy to amble around this oasis of Autumnal tranquility at Brittas, where the greens have recovered well following the recent maintenance program and we salute the greenkeeping staff for their diligence. Our thanks also to Richard & Julie Kavanagh for facilitating the PRTV Society at short notice, and to Cheryl in the restaurant for looking after us so well, both before and after the golf.
With just one outing left to play, Tom Fleming leads this year's Golfer of the Year table by 3pts, with 6 players still in with the chance to snatch victory from his grasp. The exciting decider will be at Royal Dublin on Monday 13th Dec.
