Tom completes good weekend for Macs
The 'K' Club hosted this year's Irish Open over the weekend, which
saw Rory (Wee Mac) realise his ambition and add the National Championship
to his already impressive list of victories. Almost from the outset
on Thursday, heavy showers were in evidence, thus ensuring a busy
few days for the Rain Mac. On Monday 23rd May, Tom McGrane rounded
off the perfect weekend for the Macs by making light of his recent
period of convalescence with victory in the PRTV outing to the Luttrellstown
Castle Resort. His score of 34pts was sufficient to keep him ahead
of the chasing posse of Pat O'Donovan, Joe Sheridan and Shay Smith,
just 1pt adrift.
As was the case last year, we once again enjoyed very favourable weather,
and given all the rain that had fallen over the previous few days,
the golf course was in excellent playing condition. Cleverly positioned
hole locations were an enjoyable challenge for some and a challenge
too far for others, but the blame could not be attributed to the marvellous
putting surfaces. Well done to the greenkeepers, bar staff and everyone
at Luttrellstown for making this year's visit so enjoyable.
