We're off and running for another year with the Press Radio & TV Society, and if the opening day weather is the harbinger for the rest of the season, make sure you have Factor 15 handy.
The outing was won by Pat Malone with 39pts,4 greater than runners-up Tom Olin and Paul McCarthy. By coincidence, the winning score was exactly the same as last year's, and outgoing Captain Tom Olin brought the curtain down on a memorable year with a birdie on the final hole of his captaincy.
As is customary at Malahide, the outing was followed by the A.G.M. of the Society, which this year opened on a sad note with a silent tribute in memory of the late Sean Og O'Ceallachain, former Captain and esteemed member. John O'Sullivan was installed as Captain and immediately named Paddy Higgins as his Vice-Captain to popular acclaim. Tom McGrane stood down from the Committee and was replaced by Brian Moran, and Seamus Smith was elected to the new position of Handicap Secretary. Treasurer John Foley announced that the annual subscription would remain unchanged for another year and reiterated the importance of payment in full by June 1st.
The fixtures for the coming year were unveiled with Captain's Day at Slade Valley on September 9th.
2014 will see the 50th year of the PRTV, and a 3-person sub-committee comprising Pat O'Donovan, Paddy Higgins & John Foley was formed to plan the celebrations.
We are grateful to Malahide Golf Club once again for their hospitality,we compliment the greenkeeping staff for the excellent condition of the course and the catering staff for the high quality of their food and service.
