2018
- Starting the year at Malahide
The outing at Malahide and the annual Irish
invasion of Cheltenham were in the same week, due to the former being
postponed for a week because of the heavy snow.
The going was heavy in both places, but at Malahide, the field of
twenty one produced reasonable results despite muddy shoes and trouser
legs.
Five players breached the 30pt mark ,with Brendan O’Farrell
winning on a countback from Joe Sheridan with 32pts. The good news
– nobody scored under twenty!
At the AGM held laterafterwards, Tom McGrane asked to step down from
the Committee on health grounds and the vacant position was filled
by Ray Maguire.
Two motions were discussed and passed as follows:
"That the aim of the Society shall be
to enjoy the game of golf amongst members and to further social contacts
between people working in Press, Radio and Television and their friends”
- Proposed by John Foley.
It was also agreed that this change would be managed by the committee
after receiving proposer and seconder for any new members.
"That the annual subscription be increased
to take account of rising costs".
- Proposed by John Foley. (Hon.Treasurer)
The incoming Captain, Myles Cronan, wished
all members the best of ball hitting for the new season!
The competitive season begins at The Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links
on Monday 26th March with the tee from 10.30 to 12 noon.
