First PRTV winner at St. Margaret's
When a new venue appears on the calendar, Press Radio and TV members may ask 'What will the course play like ?', 'Will there be wide fairways ?',
'Are there any trees ?', 'Is there much rough ?', 'How about bunkers and water ?', 'Will the greens be fast ?'. Well, St. Margaret's Golf and Country Club in North Co. Dublin has all of the above, but none of these appeared to trouble Niall Mathews, who shot a stellar 39pts to win the overall prize when the Society visited on Monday 20th May. Niall had 2pts to spare over Joe Sheridan, while Michael Collins was a further 3 back.
On a delightful day for golf, the course looked pristine in the afternoon sun and was a joy to play for the smaller than anticipated turnout. The hospitality in the Clubhouse was second to none and it is hoped that this facility can become a regular fixture.
Was it really a good day out? No! It was a great day out.
