July
and August were busy months for the Society with 4 outings on the
calendar, so Monday's visit to Mullingar was a welcome break from
h/cap adjustments, GOY points and prizes as the large turnout recharged
their batteries for the upcoming Captain's prize.
This popular venue hosted our Lakelands Trophy outing for many years
and we are grateful for the opportunity to return and relive some
past glory. Weather on the day was dull to begin with, but just like
the golf, improved as the round progressed. The course, which has
seen some renovation since our last visit, was beautifully presented,
and the subtle hole locations made for a challenging but nonetheless
very enjoyable day out. The salmon and steaks in the clubhouse afterwards
were reason enough to make the trip and we sincerely thank the catering
staff for making us feel so welcome.
Special thanks to Captain John O'Sullivan & Shay Smith for organising
this year's 'away' day and to the good people at Mullingar Golf Club
for having us back once more.
