PRTV on Tour again at Mullingar
'Away' days are very popular among golfing afficionados, and the now annual trip for the Press Radio and TV Society took place on Monday 20th September. Mullingar was again the destination, affording us another opportunity to walk in the footsteps of all the greats of Irish Golf who list the Mullingar Scratch Cup among their triumphs.
Although numbers were a little down on previous years, the enjoyment of what turned out to be a perfect day for golf was not. When all scores were returned and checked, Michael Farrell was best in the Members category with 32pts, despite a horror story on the 18th with not 1, but 2 balls in the water guarding the green. Following him home was Des Long (30pts), with Denis Foley and Brian Kelly (both 29pts) completing the list of prize winners. The Visitors awards were set to be announced later in the eveinng at Bloomfield House, where an evening of music and craic was due to begin at 7 p.m.
No doubt, the travelling Skerries brigade will ensure a good night is had by all.
A big 'Thank You' is due to all at Mullingar G.C. for their hospitality and especially to the Bar and Catering staff for the tasty food and welcoming beverages.
