Pat Malone triumphs at Newlands

Although Monday April 30th was grey and overcast, it failed to dampen the spirits of the the PRTV as the Society returned to play
Newlands after a gap of many years. Heavy rain on the previous night could have jeopardised the outing but the excellent drainage proved its worth thus enabling our members to enjoy a truly memorable day out. The mature trees lining the fairways appeared more than happy to embrace every stray shot, while slick greens with some tough pin placements ensured that stableford points were at a premium for many. Of course there are always exceptions, this time in the persons of Pat Malone who took the overall award with 35pts, and South County's Michael Mahon who was the leading visitor with the day's best score, 37pts. Newlands certainly merits praise as one of Dublin's top parkland courses and we hope it will remain on our calendar for many years to come.
