Deja Vu at Newlands
Golfers are indeed an eclectic group of people. Some play best at Parkland courses, others prefer Links golf. Some like slow greens whereas for others, the faster the better. Certain venues bring out the best in players and this appears to be true where Newlands and Michael Farrell are concerned. Having recorded the winning score at the corresponding outing last year, Michael repeated the feat at the PRTV Society outing on Monday 27th April when his 35pts was just enough to get him over the line ahead of Ray Gunning and the form man of 2015 so far, Des Long.
Newlands looked immaculate in the morning sunshine as the players set off. Gone were the winter rules, replaced by 'play it as it lies' and 'be very careful on the greens'. Not quite gone however were the cool northwesterlies, feeding in periodic winter showers of rain, sleet and landscape altering hailstones, forcing some members to seek the comforts of the inviting Clubhouse earlier than planned.

That the aftermath of the elements did little to affect play is testament to the standard of the course and the ability of the greenkeepers, and we congratulate them for having the course looking and playing to perfection. Many thanks to the catering staff
for treating us so well and to the Management team for doing everything to make us welcome. In the words of the Terminator, "We'll be back".
