PGA Tankard Win for Paddy at Newlands
Monday 8th April will not be remembered as an ideal day for golfing but that is unlikely to bother Paddy O'Connor unduly. While many struggled to come to terms with the cold and damp conditions, Paddy, playing in the final group, strode to PGA Tankard victory, apparently impervious to the elements. With a score of 34pts, he had 4pts to spare over nearest challenger Des Long, and 5 more than Jerry Hayes and Brian Kelly.
As usual, Newlands was in splendid condition and we are indebted to the Club for hosting the PRTV Society once more, and many thanks also to the hardworking bar and catering staff for looking after us so well following the golf.
Deputising for Captain Eddie, Vice Captain Barney Keville was spot on when he said that it is always a pleasure to play at Newlands, and despite the rather damp weather, an enjoyable day ensued.
