After
the disappointment of March 11th, we finally got our season started
with the refixed outing to Portmarnock on Tuesday 2nd April. Despite
a cool breeze from the east, the snow capped mountains in the distance
provided the only evidence of the recent Siberian conditions, with
the long awaited early Spring sunshine a most welcome visitor. The
features of the nearby hill of Howth were clearly visible from the
golf course, and surely inspired Howth member Myles Cronan to return
the winning score of 33pts. Myles was chased home by Pat O'Donovan
on 31pts and a posse of players with 30pts. The PRTV association with
arguably the premier links course in the country stretches back many
years and we are grateful for its continuance. The course was once
again in magnificent condition despite the sustained frosty weather
of the past weeks and is a credit to the greenkeepers. Our thanks
also go to the catering staff for looking after us so well after the
golf.
