Sweet revenge for Mick at Portmarnock

Twelve months ago at the corresponding outing, a plethora of players tied the top score. One of those players was Mick Daly, but on that occasion he was beaten on a countback for the overall prize. Fast forward to Mon.23rd March 2015 and we find the countback being called on once again to separate the winner from the pack. This time however, dame fortune smiled favourably on Mick, as his 36pts proved best, thus relegating Brendan O'Farrell and Paul McCarthy to minor awards. Brendan lost out in similar fashion in 2014 so maybe he will prevail next year.
The Championship course was in great order and the strengthening breeze increased the premium on properly struck shots. Although showers could be seen all around us, umbrellas were not required and the sun even made a welcome appearance for most of the inward half. Many thanks to Portmarnock for having us back and to the bar and catering staff for keeping us fed and watered after the golf.
