Pat claims overall win at Portmarnock

The eagerly awaited season opener of the PRTV Golf Society was held on Monday 27th March at Portmarnock Golf Club, where Pat O'Donovan, having settled for minor placings in the past few years here, finally managed to shake off the 'nearly man' tag and win the outing with 36pts, 2 better than nearest challenger Michael Farrell, with 2017 Captain Michael Collins a further point back on 33. Playing this famous links is certainly a thrill, but to be here on such a delightful day was a most welcome bonus. The Championship course was in great condition and it was all too easy to be distracted by the surrounding panorama, a plausible excuse if you needed one.
At the prizegiving, Captain Michael Collins paid tribute to Portmarnock and welcomed former member and current President of Kilmashogue Golf Club, Patricia Grennan, back to the fold. Sincere condolences were also sent to Peter Rea following the recent sad passing of his wife. May she rest in peace.
