Phil shows right spirit at Portmarnock
Links
In
a departure from tradition, the Press Radio & TV Society
began its 2018 season with a first ever outing to the Portmarnock
Hotel and Golf Links on Monday 26th March.
Following the recent spell of inclement weather, many of the participants
were teeing up for the first time this year, and in almost perfect
conditions, all set out on a quest for early glory. The honour of
being the PRTV's initial winner at this venue fell to Phil Mullally,
whose astute course management, excellent shot making, and a great
score of 36pts, saw him finish 3pts ahead of nearest challengers Aidan
Butler and Pat Courtney.
A plaque at the 1st tee informs us that
this land was once the home of John Jameson, the famed whiskey baron,
and as you wind your way through the formidable challenges of the
18 well thought out holes, perhaps you can even feel the spirit of
Bernhard Langer, the designer of this super layout.
We are grateful to Portmarnock Links for their hospitality both on
and off the course and look forward to a return visit next year. The
Society is happy to welcome our newest members, Tom Fleming Charles
Stewart, Eamonn Brennan and Enda McDermott, and we hope they will
enjoy many more wonderful days of golf and camaraderie throughout
the coming years.
