Another win for Des
Monday April 13th was a nice day for golf. The course was set up to test players to the limit. Although many of the flags appeared accessible enough, shooting at them ran the risk of leaving almost impossible-to-hole returns if you were skillful (or lucky) enough to keep the ball on the greens. Was this the traditional Press Radio and TV opportunity to play Augusta National on the Monday after the Masters ? Not exactly, although at times it did seem like that as the PRTV Society made its annual April visit to Rathcore in the royal county of Meath.
It hasn't taken Des too Long to register his second overall win of 2015 as he romped to a 5pt victory over the chasing pack, which included Aidan Butler, Pat Courtney, Pat O'Donovan and Peter Rea.
Despite a four hour downpour the previous night, the course was in great condition and the greenkeepers deserve great credit for their efforts. Rathcore has featured on our Society calendar for a number of years now and many of us are convinced it is not solely because of the golf. Captain Brian was effusive in his praise of the catering staff and we are indeed grateful to the ladies behind the bar for looking after us so well. Many thanks to the Lyons family for their continued hospitality and we look forward to returning again next year, if not sooner, for another great day out.
