Narrow
win for Jim Carraher at Royal Dublin
Another year has all but gone as the Press Radio and TV Golf Society
closed the curtain on another golfing year on Monday 9th December
with the traditional season ending outing at The Royal Dublin Golf
Club.
The destination of the last two trophies in the Society's cabinet
had yet to be finalised, and following a thrilling battle over the
shortened 12 hole layout, the winner of the Brendan McKenna Trophy
for 2024 was Jim Carraher on 25pts, closely followed by Dolores Hayes
(24pts), and Paul Naughton & Susan O'Donoghue (23pts).
Although not mathematically over the line at the start of play, Tom
Fleming secured the necessary points to guarantee that his consistency
throughout the year saw him crowned 'Golfer of the Year' for 2024.
Many congrats Tom.
The tasty Christmas meal was followed by some brief speeches as Vice
Captain Enda, officiated in the absence of our Captain John, welcoming
members and guests, and thanking Royal Dublin for hosting the Society
once again.
Aonghus, Eddie and Ronan treated us to another enjoyable night of
music, songs and stories, with additional supplements by Paul, last
year's singing sensation Suzanne, and the legend that is Dave Green.
Mighty stuff indeed to send us home happy.
As we look forward to the challenges which 2025 will bring, we are
confident that these will be surmounted and that the approaching year
will be a successful one as we continue to enjoy our Society golf.
Wishing all our Members and Friends
a Happy and Peaceful 2025.
