Another
Clontarf success at Skerries
Last weekend, the Jimmy Bruen Shield regional qualifier was hosted
by Skerries Golf Club, and when the dust settled on Sunday evening,
Clontarf had overcome all opposition to advance to the Leinster finals.
That win had a knock-on effect on Centenary Year Captain Shay Smith
as he kept the Club flag flying high by romping to victory at the
PRTV Society outing on Monday 17th June. Shay returned a superb 37pts
and attributed his 2 point winning margin over Pat O'Donovan to his
Mickelsonesque eagle at the 10th hole, where he too holed his 2nd
shot.
The early round mist lifted eventually and gave us an almost perfect
day for golf. The course as usual was in excellent condition, complimented
by wonderful food in the Clubhouse afterwards,
and the large turnout was testimony indeed to the popularity of this
north Dublin venue which is now firmly established on the annual Society
calendar.
