Des adds Skerries to Long list of sucesses
Des Long is no stranger to the winners' enclosure. Back in 2011 his round of 40pts looked good enough to give him victory here, but Tommy Olin sprung a surprise on him to win that day with 43pts.
A swirling wind, and astute hole locations on slick greens, ensured there would be no repeat of those scores on Monday 12th Sept. when the Press Radio and TV Society paid its annual visit to Skerries. When the cards had been checked, 2 players were tied at the top of the leaderboard on a very creditable 33pts, with top honours going to Des over Pat Malone on a countback.
Despite forecasts of bad weather, the day turned out to be very pleasant for golf, and the greenkeepers deserve credit for having the course in such good playing order. Full marks also for the catering staff and grateful thanks to Paul McCarthy for another nice day out.
