Local
knowledge wins the day
The latest event on the
European Tour, the Omega Masters, took place high in the Swiss Alps
at Crans-sur-Sierre, and not to be outdone, the PRTV Society Captain's
Prize was held at the Dublin equivalent on Monday 9th September. There
are times when parts of Slade Valley are above the clouds but not
this time, as Captain John O'Sullivan's prayers were rewarded with
perfect golfing weather. The course was in great condition and with
fast sloping greens challenging even our best putters, it came as
no surprise that Slade Valley member Ray Gunning took the major award,
although he was pushed all the way by Aidan Butler and Peter Kennedy.
Some of our members are not big fans of this venue as they consider
it to be too hilly. They should have a chat with the man who forgot
to put the battery on his caddy car and had actually played 5 holes
before realising it wasn't there.
Most of the membership turned out to honour our Captain and the day
was marked by the traditional dinner and prizegiving.
Our thanks go to John and Slade Valley for a great day out and to
the bar and catering folks for nice food and drink.
