Tom wins 'Stanley Bergin' at first attempt.
Stanley Bergin - Journalist, International cricketer, and Ireland's record run maker, was also an excellent golfer. Since his premature demise in 1969 at the young age of 42, the members of the Press Radio and TV Golf Society compete annually to have their names added to the trophy which perpetuates his memory. Some members of long standing have yet to merit a shield on the plinth, whereas others have triumphed soon after joining. On Tuesday 8th May, new boy Tom Fleming joined the latter group with aplomb when his 42pts saw him top the leaderboard, 3 clear of the recovering John Foley with Charlie Doran a distant 3rd back on 34pts.
The rolling parkland of the Co. Meath Golf Club at Trim is now firmly established as the venue for this prestigious outing and with good reason. From the welcoming Pro Shop to the picturesque environs of the challenging golf course, it is difficult to imagine a nicer place to be, especially on a fine day such as we enjoyed once the early morning mist had dispersed. The hospitality of the bar and restaurant staff coupled with first class food was the ideal way to complete another successful day's golf.

If you missed this outing, or just cannot wait until 2019 for a return visit, why not check out the Co.Meath Golf Club website for details of some great value deals and tee time booking.
