Paul emulates Tiger at Co.Meath.
April 15 - Augusta: Tiger defies all the odds to win his 5th Masters, some 11 years following his previous one, dispelling any doubts that he could ever reestablish himself as a major champion.
May 7 - Co.Meath: Paul McCarthy shows that he could emulate Tiger by taking the Stanley Bergin Memorial a mere 8 years since he previosly put his name on this prestegious trophy.
Just like Tiger, he too has had his trials and tribulations with injury, which saw him sidelined for all of last year and most of 2017, so it is especially pleasing to see him back competing once again. On another day, Dave Green's well crafted 34pts would have seen him prevail, but none could argue with Paul's winning score of 38pts.
It is indeed a pleasure to play at Co. Meath where the picturesque course is always in great playing condition and the hospitality of the good folks at the Club is second to none. This year we are doubly fortunate as we are set to return in August for our Captain's Day, so if you were unable to make it down last Monday and are keen to play there in advance of the big day, why not check out the Open Events on the Club website
