Peter takes our first 'Major' in style
Woodbrook was once again the venue for the PRTV Society President's Prize outing on Monday 3rd July. The heavy hitters were here in force, hoping to kick off Irish Open week with a good performance. Scoring would suggest there were a number of those, but it was Arklow's Peter Rea who took top spot with 39pts, gallantly chased home by last year's winner Des Long on 38 and the 2015 champion, Aidan Butler on 36. A class podium you will agree.
The course was again in superb condition and the day just perfect for golf, and as befits this occasion, members turned out in large numbers, to play this popular venue and pay homage to our esteemed President, Ian P.Corr.
Although not playing golf anymore, Ian has lost none of his oratory skills and was in top form during the post prandial 'State of the Society' address.
Guests of honour were former Shamrock Rovers & Man.United legend Harry Lennon, former Irish Press and Goal legend John O'Shea, and current RTE Golf Society President and PRTV legend Tommy Olin.
We are grateful to Woodbrook for their warm and friendly hospitality down through the years, and continued this year, to the hard working greenkeepers for the wonderful and challenging course, to our good friend Michael Silke for his assistance with the array of prizes, and not forgetting the catering team for a really delicious meal, served with professional efficiency and smiles. A super golf course, a delicious meal, convivial company, what more could you ask for ?
