Woodbrook Major for Paddy
Having been absent from the winners' enclosure so far this year, Paddy O'Connor announced his return in style, albeit on a countback,as he took the honours with 41pts on President's Day at Woodbrook G.C. from Brian Kelly, with 2022 winner Pat Malone a close 3rd.
Weather conditions were almost perfect for golf, little or no wind and the anticipated thundery showers staying away until late in the day. Playing conditions were of a similar status, with lush green fairways and perfectly prepared greens a pleasure to behold. The greenkeeping team are to be congratulated for presenting the course to such a high standard.
Also of the highest standard was the delicious food following the golf and our thanks again to the bar and catering staff for looking after us so well.
For more years than he cares to remember, our President Ian has been regaling the members of the PRTV Society and guests with his after dinner anecdotes and 2023 was no exception. Welcome guest Michael Gately, President of the RTE Golf Society, replied on behalf of the visitors before the prizewinners on the day were announced.
It is always a joy to play at Woodbrook and walk in the footsteps of the famous golfers featured in the many photographs adorning the walls, and we look forward to next year when hopefully we get to do it all again.
