PRTV
2024 calendar opens on a bright note
Monday 26th Feb. saw the launch of
The Press Radio and TV Golf Society program for 2024 at sundrenched
and breezy Howth Golf Club. The course in play was the front 9 holes
of this challenging but panoramic location, where Ray Maguire took
the top spot with a very creditable return of 21pts, just ahead of
last year's winner Tom Fleming and the chasing pack including Brian
Moran, Suzanne McNelis and Denis Foley.
As is the custom, the Annnual General Meeting followed the golf, where
John Foley was elected as Captain for 2024, following Dave Green's
withdrawl on health grounds. Enda McDermott was named as Vice Captain.
Hon. Secretary Paul McCarthy, and Hon.H/Cap Secretary Michael Farrell
were also returned for another year, with outgoing Captain Denis Foley
now Ex Officio. The vacant role of Hon.Treasurer was filled by Anne
Marie Kerney. The 5 Committee positions were filled by Suzanne McNelis,
Myles Cronan, Aidan Butler, Brian Moran, and Michael Dunphy.
The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were circulated and passed,
and it was agreed that the annual subscription would remain unchanged
for 2024.
Under AOB, Michael Farrell outlined proposals
for the H/Cap review for the new golfing year, while Paul announced
that President's Day at Woodbrook would also mark the Society's Diamond
Jubilee. It was also agreed that the PRTV is still welcoming new members.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting then closed.
